About this deal

When listening to the newest Campfire Audio Andromeda Emerald Sea I have to say I’m starting to get it though. In turn, though forward and revealing, it is not sharp or fatiguing, the Andromeda actually is more prone to sounding sharp on poorly mastered tracks. I can easily bring it down with my Loki but then I think it winds up missing air in the 10-20khz range making the treble a bit dull sounding. IF does have an advantage though compared to most independent review sites in that they’re part of the Stereophile media group, so they can share resources including reviewers with their sister sites. It’s an amazing mix of smoothness, that doesn’t influence dynamic range, detail that is insane, yet not overwhelming.

This is probably more a comment about my hearing than the IEMs but I could detect few differences between the two Andros. At the end of the day, the MW10 definitely seems to have improved on many of the OG’s technical capabilities. The Andromeda has a much larger stage, width especially, while the EST-6 has slightly more coherent imaging. The majority of non-audio impressions, as well as the specs, will be the same as the original Andromeda review we have covered already. How would you compare Andromeda with regard to the mids and spacial presentation of a Freqphase product or the Velvets? The mids are mostly the same like the OG Andro: More upfront than CA other higher end IEMs with a dip in the lower mids where the treble starts to kick up in the upper mids. Very few serious reviewers have time to sell the things they review – those items that they’re allowed to keep.

Lets say YOU are impossible to be influenced by freebies, can’t you acknowledge that OTHERS might be, or that the readers might think it possible? Again, I was skeptical that there would be any noticeable difference between last year’s Andromeda and the new Andromeda 2020. It feels more like an aroma rather than reverbs, making the bass feel mildly larger and bigger than Andromeda 2020. The pronounced body of each note thanks to the Andromeda’s moderate pinna gain goes a long way towards allowing instruments to anchor and be well defined in space. However, I can see where the MW10 is going to suck quick on brighter/neutralist setups or amps with a lower output z. The Andromeda is ultimately still an IEM and suffers from the same limitations when it comes to staging.
