All her single friends are now married with children, a sky-high real estate market forces her to rent a room in a stranger’s house, and everyone has seemingly perfect Instagram-ready lives. We pushed it back six months just as we went into the second lockdown but we went ahead anyway and through word of mouth it went down extremely well. An amusing, light read with believable characters and in which you find yourself routing for Nell to find her happy ending.

If anyone else feels like this (or just looking for a few good laughs) I highly suggest COAFSFU because it gives you a new outlook on things with laughter, connection and stellar writing as a soothing balm. Female friendships, the way some are domineering and will always show the 'my life is perfect', look at my Insta and look at my fancy wardrobe and stylised persona. Women do have a competitive streak, but I think that’s in life generally, and on the contrary I have always found them to be very supportive of one another. Together they begin to help each other heal their aching hearts, cope with the loss of the lives they had planned, and push each other into new adventures and joy.

And if you ever need to be reminded that life isn't always Instagram-perfect, then this book is your go-to filter. Once again Alexandra Potter had me howling with laughter until I had to stop because I couldn’t see through my tears. This book is just as funny and heartfelt from start to finish and for any woman or man who wonders how the hell she got here and why life isn't quite how she imagined it was going to be. I can’t tell you how happy I was to catch up with Nell and Cricket they have such an endearing friendship and all the other familiar characters in this sequel, they truly feel like old friends!

I’m eighty-one years old and I’ve learned if there’s one gift you can give yourself in life, it’s the freedom and courage to say “I don’t know”.Certainly, there has never been more of a divide between the forty-somethings locked down with their families (even if juggling home schooling and contemplating divorce) and those who were single when Covid struck and have had their romantic landscapes razed. Nell on the other hand is like a blank canvas, but she is kind, so kind and helpful, that no one could possibly find fault with her.
